Barack Obama’s Homeland Security Agenda is multi-fold, but its main premise is to protect the American people, especially from terrorist threats. Simple! Right? Not really…

Proper level of leadership and strategy will be needed to help secure our nation.
The strategy for securing the U.S. against 21st century threats is focused on preventing terrorist attacks on our homeland, preparing and planning for emergencies and investing in strong response and recovery capabilities. According to the White House:
Obama and Biden will strengthen our homeland against all hazards -– including natural or accidental disasters and terrorist threats — and ensure that the federal government works with states, localities, and the private sector as a true partner in prevention, mitigation, and response.
Certainly a noble cause, but Obama and his staff will have to handle the following issues to start paving the way to reaching the aforementioned goals:
- Defeat Terrorism Worldwide – this is a tough one
- Prevent Nuclear Terrorism
- Strengthen American Biosecurity
- Protect Our Information Networks
- Improve Intelligence Capacity and Protect Civil Liberties
- Protect Americans from Terrorist Attacks and Natural Disasters
- Protect Critical Infrastructure
- Modernize America’s Aging Infrastructure
