Criminal Justice Online - Respected, Regionally Accredited, & AsynchronousAmerican Military University (AMU), part of American Public University Systems (APUS), is a respected institution offering many online degrees. The online Bachelor of Criminal Justice degree at American Military University is no exception.

AMU is regionally and nationally accredited and offers 2 types of Bachelor level degrees:

  • Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Criminal Justice, with a concentration in:
    • General Criminal Justice studies, or
    • Organizational Law Enforcement Leadership
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in Criminal Justice, with a concentration in:
    • Forensics

Not sure what BA and BS really means, find out what’s the difference between BA and BS degrees?

The core courses for the BA degree are the same whether you take the General or the Organizational Law Enforcement Leadership option. Where they differ is in their specialization courses.

The BS in Criminal Justice offers a Forensic Science concentration and differs just a little bit in the core courses it offers from its BA counterparts. The Forensic option is more science intensive and offers a great route for those interested in how, where, when, and why of crime.

In order to attend American Military University you don’t have to be in the military, and it seems that there’s no preference given if you are or were in the U.S. armed forces.

If you would like to find out more information about the courses and degree programs AMU offers please visit the official American Military University website.

The difference with BA and BS in any major is that with the BA you take more liberal arts and/or gen ed courses. For example you might have to take philosophy, ethics, logic, psychology, sociology, college algebra, english 1 & 2, infinite math, and speech communications. With the BS logic, college algebra, english 1 and/or 2 (depending on your major), and a science course.
