Internet Speeds You Need for Online Criminal Justice Classes

by Radek M. Gadek

Okay. So this one is a no-brainer. You need access to the Internet to complete your online Criminal Justice classes. Internet speed may play a big role in how well your courses display on your computer, therefore you shouldn’t take this information lightly.

High speed Internet is optimal for online Criminal Justice classes

If you have high speed Internet you are covered. No worries, no troubles, no pulling out of hair. Broadband speeds like those of cable & DSL are highly desirable. This is true especially if your courses require a high rate of speed. Class lectures in video or audio format may need to be downloaded or streamed live. You can’t do so efficiently with a dial-up connection. And, streaming live videos… that’s not going to happen.

If you can afford high speed Internet, you should get it for your online education. It will simply make life, well, more simple. If high speed broadband connection is not in your price range or is not available in your area, you should consider going to Starbucks or other cafes that usually offer high speed Wi-Fi service (often free). One other option for those that cannot get high speed Internet in their area is to consider getting it through a cell phone carrier like Sprint, Verizon, or AT&T. This is done either through cell phone tethering or through an Internet broadband card. Just make sure to ask if they offer high speed connectivity in your area; specifically ask if their cell towers allow for high speed Internet in your area for no extra charge. Also, a satellite provider, like WildBlu, may offer you a piece of mind which may satisfy the high speed need in a rural area.

But, you can get by on dial-up for your Criminal Justice classes online.

Dial up is cheaper than high speed Internet but it is slower. It requires a home phone line, also known as a land line. This is for those of you that don’t rely too much on video and audio in your CJ courses (which can mean plenty of you). Majority of the universities understand that not all students have high speed Internet, thus, allowing you to complete your entire degree online at a turtle’s pace. There may be some assignments which will take you longer than others, as you will have to research online newspapers, journals, and other resources. In my opinion, time is money. I feel that waiting for research pages to load slowly just takes away from my time, therefore I rather invest in high speed Internet, and in turn, myself. I recommend you do the same. You will thank me for it later.

Thanks for the info. I am considering an online criminal justice program and was wondering precisely about this matter.
